Ann Shawhan Tropical themed paintings
I began painting again after a hiatus of several decades. This series of tropical and oceanic themes emerged after a series of trips to Key West, Cuba and Puerto Rico. I am so in love with tropical vistas, the balmy trade winds of the virgin islands, the vivid colors and variety of the vegetation. Painting is my way to maintain this love affair.

Purchase Info

My website is new and, in fact, the website is a work in progress.  I am in the midst of setting up a Pay Pal account which will be how I will be paid.  Many of the painted works I have are not yet displayed on the website and of what is displayed a few of the originals are sold.  I put them on display as examples of my work.  If there is one you are particularly fond of a giclee (a unique copy of the original, not a lithograph) is available.  A giclee has the advantage of being available in a variety of sizes on canvas or on acid free paper.  The photography is easier and less expensive to produce and send.  Two of the photographs were recently in a juried show.

My recent paintings are anywhere from 4 inches square, 8 inches by 12 inches to 4 ft x 4 ft.  I have in the past painted larger works.  My photographs sell for 100.00 at 8" by 12 " size.  Dreaming of Eden sold for $5,000.00.  I have a series I describe as 'flower tiles' which are 4 inch square canvas with various flowers painted on and I have sold a group of 9 for $250.00.  With nine you can arrange them in a square on a wall or in a line along the inside of a door.  I work in acrylics and usually use canvas to paint on.  I do take commissions if there is something, some favorite aspect of the tropical or the ocean, or nature, (I assume that is what led you to my work), you would like included in a work.  I am currently working on a commission.  A 3 ft x 3 ft image of a Stargazer Lily.  It is my patron's mother's favorite flower and this patron is the owner of Prana which is displayed on the website.

The prices of the works do not include postage.  I have been advised that some people like to arrange their own postage.  I am willing to arrange postage but want my customer to understand that postage is not included in the cost of the artwork.  Postage is a seperate cost.  The size and weight of the work and the destination will be factors in the cost of shipping.
